課程簡介

  本課程將邀請來自不同領域的委託人(client)提供數據及問題，藉此來訓練學生與委託人溝通統計觀念及解釋統計分析結果的能力、學習統計諮詢(statistical consulting)不同層面的方法與技巧、及應用適當的資料分析方法於真實數據上來解決實務問題的能力。在本課程中，針對每一個委託人的個案，我們將會練習以下的課題(topic)：

1. communication skill with client and problem formulation
2. data collection (if required)
3. statistical modeling, preliminary data analysis, and list of statistical analyses to be performed
4. thorough and elaborate statistical analyses of data
5. final presentation and report to the client

本課程上課時間為每周四3:20PM~5:10PM，上課地點為綜合三館 room 840。與課程相關的內容將會定期放置於課程網站 (http://www.stat.nthu.edu.tw/~swcheng/Teaching/stat6910_2/)。

資料分析軟體

  無指定軟體，學生可依個人喜好選擇適當的統計軟體。

教科書與參考書

  無指定教科書。若欲使用R當分析工具，可參考以下書籍：

1. Crawley, M. J. (2007), The R Book, Wiley.
2. Maindonald, J. and Braun, J. (2007), Data Analysis and Graphics Using R: an example-based approach, 2nd ed., Cambridge University Press.

教學方式

  對每一個個案：

• 將邀請委託人至課堂上進行問題介紹與討論。

• 所有學生將被隨機分成3~4個小組，每一小組皆須參與該個案所有課題之討論與練習。

• 原則上，每周我們將進行一個課題的討論。
  

• 針對該周的課題，每一小組應於每周的上課時間，上台口頭報告進度。報告時應準備清楚合宜之投影片以解釋其報告內容。

• 每周所有小組完成口頭報告後，教師將與學生一起討論可改進之方向。

• 在個案結束前，小組中的每一個成員皆須至少上台報告一次。

• 於個案結束後，每一個小組應繳交一份書面結案報告，結案報告之格式請見注意事項。

評分方式

    對每一個個案，同一個小組的成員，除非有特殊原因，否則會獲得相同的分數。而給分比例為:

• 個案之例行口頭報告綜合分數 (40%)

• 個案之結案報告分數 (50%)

• 參與討論之程度及能提供建設性建議之能力 (10%)
